Eric B. Svenson, Jr.

Senior Advisor

Eric joined MJB&A in the fall of 2012 in an advisory role on strategic planning and analysis for the electric and gas utility industry. He has over 39 years of experience in many aspects of the industry including: electric power plant operations, engineering and construction, strategic planning, electric and gas transmission and distribution systems, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, environmental permitting, and environmental remediation of utility legacy operations. Eric also has significant expertise in state, regional, and federal public policies pertaining to economic, energy, and environmental regulation of the electric and gas utility industry.

Prior to joining MJB&A, Eric was the Vice President for Environment, Health and Safety for Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), a $16 billion market cap Fortune 500 electric and gas utility headquartered in Newark, NJ.

Eric has extensive experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders to develop and implement innovative approaches to advance public policies for energy and the environment. This has included:

  • Co-chairing EPA’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Best Available Control Technology (BACT) committee that provided invaluable advice to EPA for its development of GHG BACT regulations
  • Co-authoring with the Natural Resources Defense Council several groundbreaking reports benchmarking electric power industry emissions
  • Completing the nation’s first interstate trade of NOx credits
  • Developing, in collaboration with the NJ solar industry, an innovative utility financed solar loan program to stimulate customer investment in new solar photovoltaics (PVs)

Eric holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree and Master of Engineering – Mechanical degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is a NJ Professional Engineer (retired) and is a founding board member of Clean Air – Cool Planet. He lives in Mendham, New Jersey.
