The natural gas industry took important steps in 2018 to improve transparency. Companies and coalitions set methane emissions intensity targets, and parties conducted transactions involving certified responsible natural gas for the first time. Since its inception, the Natural Gas Supply Collaborative (NGSC) has worked to promote such safe and responsible practices. In October 2017, NGSC released a report identifying 14 key environmental and social performance indicators for natural gas production. This year’s report, “Natural Gas Supply Collaborative: Promoting Safe and Responsible Production Practices,” details 2018 producer progress and industry trends while reaffirming support for more robust voluntary reporting by producers on the NGSC performance indicators. It also reviews resources developed by NGSC on state natural gas production data and the public sustainability disclosures of top U.S. producers. These resources, which make information on industry activities and practices more readily accessible to the public, investors and customers, are available on the NGSC website.
